Two minutes later, Lucas Quarta restored parity for Fiorentina. In the 87th minute, Giallorossi faced yet another blow when Lukaku was sent off and they were reduced to nine players. At that moment, Mourinho chalked out a new plan — so that his team could walk out with at least a point — which was passed on to Patricio.

Despite dropping two crucial points, Mourinho's side have managed to hold on to the fourth position on the league table as they now have 25 points from 15 matches, 13 less than league leaders Inter.
Mourinho, on the other hand, could face a suspension after he made controversial statements against a Serie A referee before the club's clash against Sassuolo.
Roma will be next seen in action against Sheriff on Thursday in the Europa League before they face Bologna in the Serie A on Sunday.
